Hot Marriage, Cool Parents & Financial Troubles?
Reality Stars Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner sit in the hot seat
If you've followed me for awhile, you know I was a former producer on a very popular dating show called The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.
During my five years working on those shows, I made a lot of friends and some were with cast members, like Jamie Otis.
If her name sounds familiar, it's probably not from The Bachelor or Bachelor Pad, although she was on both.
You most likely know her from Married at First Sight.
It's the show where in the very first episode, you get married to someone the show picked out for you!!!
So, that premise sounds crazy, right? I definitely thought so, when Jamie called me about the show.
I said, "Don't do it."
But...I'm glad she did NOT listen to me...
Because if she had, she wouldn't be with Doug Hehner and have two beautiful children!
With 7 years of marriage and two kids, they've shared a lot of their ups and downs, first on TV with Married at First Sight and Married at First Sight: The First Year and now with their podcast, Hot Marriage, Cool Parents. In their latest episode, they discussed hitting a serious rough patch.
In their latest episode, they brought me on to talk about some of their financial stresses and how different they are, when it comes to money.
Jamie is someone who is a saver and really frugal with her money because of how she grew up (really poor...they had a dirt floor at some point), while Doug just didn't know what to do with money so he's more of a spender, although he grew up having all of his needs met.

We discuss what they can do, how they can raise their children to view money differently AND of course, we talk about the reality of reality dating shows...since they met on one and I worked for one.
